Moleanos Travertine is a Portuguese stone from the Moleanos quarries north of Lisbon, technically sitting between a dense limestone and a fine travertine. It is the material specifiers choose when they need travertine’s warmth with markedly better technical numbers.
Specification-Grade Warmth for Exterior Work
Much of the travertine revival is happening outdoors – terraces, pool decks, ventilated facades. That exposes the weakness of soft, open travertine. Moleanos has grown in specification because it holds the warm beige palette architects now want while offering the compressive strength, low water absorption and freeze-thaw resistance that external certification requires.
Appearance & Finish Options
A uniform warm beige to light cream ground with fine, tight grain and subtle fossil detail rather than open pore channels. Tonal variation between slabs is low, which makes it forgiving over very large areas. Honed and brushed are the standard architectural finishes; bush-hammered and sandblasted are used for external slip resistance.

Slab Sizes, Finishes & Fabrication
Available in 20 mm and 30 mm slabs, plus thicker cut-to-size for external paving and copings. Honed, brushed, bush-hammered, sandblasted or polished. Low water absorption makes it suitable for freeze-thaw exposure with correct detailing and sealing.
