Quartzite vs Granite vs Marble for 2026 Remodels: Durability, Cost & What B2B Buyers Choose

Three natural stones dominate 2026 remodels, and each serves a different buyer. This guide breaks down durability, cost and best use so distributors and fabricators can match the right slab to the project — and stock the right mix.

Marble

Marble brings a soft, luminous glow and bookmatchable veining that no other stone matches. It is calcite, so it etches with acid (lemon, vinegar, wine) and needs sealing about once a year in kitchens. Best for islands, vanities, feature walls and fireplace surrounds where it meets little abuse.

Granite

Granite ranks about 6–7 on the Mohs scale: extremely hard, heat-resistant and low-maintenance. It is the safest default for busy kitchens, outdoor kitchens, flooring and commercial projects. Expect resealing only every 1–2 years, sometimes less.

Quartzite

Quartzite ranks about 7 on the Mohs scale, delivering marble-like veining with granite-class durability. It is the compromise buyers want when they love marble but fear the maintenance — ideal for islands, backsplashes and feature walls.

Cost & Origin

Granite and entry quartzite overlap on price; marble ranges from accessible to premium by variety. NKBA found 54.2% of US buyers consider material origin at least moderately important, so transparent, documented sourcing now wins specifications.

Which to Stock

Lead with granite and quartzite for working kitchens and outdoor projects, and keep marble for design-led, lower-abuse spaces. A balanced slab-warehouse mix covers the 2026 remodel buyer from durable workhorse to showpiece.
