White Onyx is the most versatile stone in the onyx family – a pale, translucent white-to-ivory body with soft honey and cream banding, and the highest light transmission of the onyxes we supply.
The Default Choice for Backlit Stone
As backlit stone moved from rare feature to standard luxury detail, White Onyx became the default specification. Its neutral palette means the lighting designer controls the colour – warm LEDs render it honey and golden, cool LEDs keep it icy and modern. That flexibility is why it appears in more backlit installations than any other onyx.
Appearance & Finish Options
A translucent white to pale ivory body with soft cream, honey and pale amber banding and occasional fine grey veining. Unlit, it reads as a quiet, luminous white stone with subtle movement. Backlit, the banding resolves into layered strata of light and the honey tones warm considerably. Polished maximises depth; honed produces a softer, more diffuse glow.

Slab Sizes, Finishes & Fabrication
Supplied at 18 mm and 20 mm for backlit panels and 30 mm for horizontal surfaces. Clear-resin backing is essential where backlighting is planned – mesh backing will show through. Use edge-lit or uniform LED sheet arrays; test a sample with the intended fixture before committing to a large installation.
